Background

 

Before joining the marketing faculty at Texas State, Dr. Nasr was an Assistant Professor at the University of Manchester, UK. Dr. Nasr earned her Ph.D. from the Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester, UK, where she was awarded the highly competitive and prestigious Manchester Business School Doctoral Studentship. Dr. Nasr received her MBA (Highest Distinction) from the Lebanese American University and a B.A. in Business Marketing (Highest Distinction) from Notre Dame University.

Dr. Nasr is the winner of prestigious awards including the SERVSIG Liam Glynn Research Scholarship Award (2014) and the Faculty of Humanities Award for Distinguished Achievement (2014) at the University of Manchester. Moreover, Dr. Nasr has been awarded scholarships for all her three degrees (B.A., MBA, Ph.D.). Dr. Nasr speaks four languages fluently.

 

Research Interests

Dr. Nasr‘s research interests include service management and marketing, Transformative Service Research (TSR), and customer feedback management. 


In particular, Dr. Nasr is working on further exploring TSR related topics. TSR has been identified as one of the top service research priorities (Ostrom et al., 2015). Dr. Nasr’s interest in TSR is also dictated by a deep and personal conviction that researchers should contribute to the well-being of the service community and society in general by offering transformational insights to service providers. With her colleagues at Texas State, she is working on establishing greater awareness about TSR. Linda is also interested in interdisciplinary research supported by novel positive psychology theories; in particular, the usage of technology interfaces within service deliveries, and the role of social media in shaping the service experience. 


Dr. Nasr has published her research in a number of journals including the Journal of Service Management, the Journal of Services Marketing, European Journal of Management, and the Journal of of Organizational Culture, Communications and Conflict. 


Dr. Nasr actively participate in leading marketing and service conferences. She has more than 18 conference proceedings in international conferences such as the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Frontiers in Service conference, the 2013 American Marketing Association (AMA) Winter Marketing Educators’ conference, QUIS13, the 2nd Positive Marketing conference, and the 2015 Academy of Marketing conference. This international exposure in top marketing and service conferences resulted in prestigious invitations to a number of special sessions and events. For example, Dr. Nasr received an invitation to be part of the TSR special session entitled “Transformative Service Research – A Cutting Edge Area for Marketing Scholars”, at the 2014 American Marketing Association (AMA) Winter Marketing Educators’ conference, and was invited to co-chair the TSR track of the 2015 Transformative Consumer Research conference entitled: “TSR-Inspirations for the Organizational Provision of Services.”

 

Professional Service Activities

Dr. Nasr is an Editorial team member of the Journal of Service Management and serves as Electronic Media Officer and Board Member of SERVSIG AMA. Linda is also an active researcher with the Customer Management Leadership Group at the University of Manchester and a member of the Center for Service Management at Loughborough University. 

Dr. Nasr serves as ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Service Theory and Practice, Journal of Services Marketing and the Journal of Marketing for Higher Education. Linda has also served as reviewer, discussant, and session chair for various academic conferences.

Dr. Nasr is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA), Academy of Marketing Science (AMS), Society for Marketing Advances (SMA), AMA SERVSIG, and the Marketing Science Institute (MSI).

Teaching

Although motivated by research, Dr. Nasr is also highly committed to teaching and training the next generation of service managers and executives by equipping them with cutting-edge knowledge and necessary skills to plan, reflect, and execute successful business strategies. Dr. Nasr teaches Services Marketing and Principles of Marketing at the McCoy College of Business. She is also looking forward to contribute to the services marketing concentration offered in the Department of Marketing. At the University of Manchester, Linda taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels courses such as Critical Marketing and Relationship Marketing and Customer Experience Management. Dr. Nasr has also supervised a number of Masters dissertations.
