Focus Strategies Merchant Banking (“Focus”) is an investment bank founded in 1999 located in Austin, Texas that works with middle market operating and financial services companies. The firm provides Merger and Acquisition Advisory, Private Placements of Equity and Debt, and Corporate Finance and Valuation
Advisory. Focus Strategies seeks to build long term relationships with its clients earned through honesty, integrity, and trust.
JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:
- Develop new industry and market research for targeted sectors
- Prepare industry analysis reports and snapshots
- Research and perform valuations using common industry techniques
- Prepare financial analysis and assist with financial modeling
- Create and maintain investor lists and databases
- Assist in business development and marketing efforts
- Research new business development opportunities for management
- Support junior staff during consulting assignments and throughout the M&A and Private Placement deal process
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior internship experience in the investment banking, private equity or equity research environment preferred (not required)
- Investment Fund analyst experience viewed as favorable
- Completion of significant coursework in Finance and Accounting
- Dynamic personality and capability to quickly grasp new concepts, industries, and business models
- Ability to perform high level research and master market analysis tools (CapIQ, SEC Filings)
- Strong MS Office skills required (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills required
COMPENSATION:
Interns will receive course credit. Fall/Spring interns completing 12 hours and more a week will be paid $15/hour. Summer interns will receive hourly pay of $12.
