Homeless Coalition of Comal County Marketing/Communications Intern

About the Coalition:

The Mission of the Homeless Coalition of Comal County is to ensure seamless care from homelessness prevention to housing permanency through advocacy and community service coordination. Founded in 2005, the purpose of the Coalition is to support services that assist families and individuals affected by homelessness or housing instability.
 
Intern Duties:

  • Provide support to the coalition’s social media efforts including:
  • Set up and utilize a Twitter account on behalf of the coalition
  • Post on Facebook regularly
  • Share items pertaining to community resources for homeless on Facebook and Twitter
  • Feature an agency of the coalition each week on social media with video interviews, photos, etc.
  • Help generate traffic for our website through social media
  • Create a promotional brochure about the coalition
  • Update the website calendar
  • Communicate with agencies within the coalition to seek out events for the calendar
  • Plan an event/social media event on homelessness awareness days in conjunction with the Advocacy Committee in order to increase public awareness about the coalition
  • Help increase public awareness about the annual Point in Time survey through social media

Education/Experience Required:   

  • Completion of, or in current pursuit of, Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in the fields of English, Marketing, Business Administration, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field   
  • Knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms required
