Financial Services - Internship

Where: UBS Financial Services, Inc. Austin, Texas Branch

When: 2023 – 2024 school year

Hours: 8-12 hours per week (Monday-Friday) flexible.

Rate: Paid Internship, $10/hour, no benefits.

Requirements: Junior or higher. GPA > 3.0, US Citizenship.

Work Scope:

  • Provide support for 3 Financial Advisors and Client Service Associate in client reporting, financial planning data input, marketing and other administrative efforts. A college student with interest in the Financial Services Industry would be preferred. Must have excellent communication skills.

Job Summary

  • Your job, as an Intern is to provide support on technical analysis, financial planning, marketing and administrative tasks to Financial Advisors.
  • You perform administrative duties that support Financial Advisors in their daily business practices (e.g., client meetings, financial planning, investment analysis, on-boarding new clients, marketing, etc.). In addition, you work on special projects that typically are 2-3 weeks ahead.
  • You are client service-oriented and a team player.
  • You are detail-oriented with proven organizational skills, able to manage time efficiently and can multi-task.
  • You have proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • You are a self-starter who is comfortable working with people in complex and evolving situations.
  • You are independent, motivated, proactive, and focused.
  • You effectively communicate information and report directly to the Financial Advisors.

Key Tasks

  • The key tasks of your job as an Intern include the following:
  • Updating Morningstar financial reports for financial advisors.
  • Providing data input to new and existing financial plans.
  • Creating technical analysis and reports on various investments and other financial planning projects.
  • Develop reports that drive business and manage the campaign. i.e. maturing bonds, life insurance review, etc..

Process Management

  • Assist in the preparation of client reports and other materials for client meetings.
  • Maintain contact management systems with up-to-date key client information.
  • Prepare supporting materials and sample reports that can be used repeatedly in client and prospective client meetings.
  • Perform business analytics, as needed, to support Financial Advisors in the growth of business (e.g., business plan, identify client opportunities, book segmentation, etc.).
  • Partner with Financial Advisors in the development of a repeatable and scalable client service matrix.
  • Support Financial Advisors, as needed, in the development of team business plan, identifying client opportunities and book segmentation.
  • Provide input to support team development needs and performance overall.

Basic Qualifications

  • Works well independently and with teams.
  • Pursuing a college degree (Junior or higher).
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other technologies.
  • Detail and service oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills.
