JOB TITLE: Human Resources Intern                 WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Assist the Human Resources department with organizing and managing the routine work activities, including recruiting and hiring, onboarding, and maintaining employee records and files.  

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
A current college student enrolled in a Human Resource Management degree program

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Proficient skills in keyboarding, word processing, and file  maintenance
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret and disseminate information to individuals and groups
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google applications
  • Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and presentations

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Prepare correspondence, forms, manuals, schedules, contracts, data and reports for the Chief Human Resources Officer and Director.  
  2. Assist in the auditing and verification of certification and licensing information of certified or licensed professional, paraprofessional, and auxiliary employees.  
  3. Assist with recruiting, marketing, and social media presence.
  4. Assist with the processing of substitute teacher applications.  
  5. Assist with compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records and other documents as required including preparing various federal, state and local reports. 
  6. Assist with Service Record maintenance and processing requests for official district records, including maintaining log of requests for records, retrieving documents, copying and mailing records
  7. Respond to requests for verification of employment.
  8. Assist also with the tracking of district employee vacancies and reconciling with Position Management reports.
  9. Assist with the preparation and distribution of employment contracts, reasonable assurance and renewal letters to employees.
  10. Assist with the collection, maintenance and preparation of reports for collection of statistical data relative to Human Resources.
  11. Maintain physical and digital department files.  
  12. Maintains confidentiality of information.
  13. All other duties as assigned.

                  None

EQUIPMENT USED:
                 Telephone, computer, printer, fax machine, calculator and copier.

Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively; ability to operate computer; maintain emotional control under stress and answer and direct calls in an orderly and controlled manner.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Repetitive hand motions; multi-task work with frequent interruptions.
