The Texas Municipal Police Association is the largest and oldest Law Enforcement Support Organization in the state of Texas with over 30,000 members. TMPA supports Police, Fire, EMT’s 911 call center personnel and their families. We have a diverse portfolio of member responsibilities to include grant writing, legal, police training and Legislative support operations. Our field services division responds to natural disasters in support of local law enforcement as well recruiting and Fallen Officer Memorials. It is because of our many tasks TMPA is looking for two interns to support our office. The intern program will be managed by both a DoD trained Public Affairs Professional with 24 years’ service and a retired Law Enforcement Officer with over 30 years. The interns will gain invaluable experience working to support our Field Services teams across Texas and our legislative teams at the capital. TMPA works closely with our local and state elected officials on crafting laws that affect Law Enforcement in the state of Texas. The Internship program will be expected to support both programs. Preference given to Veterans and prior Law Enforcement.

Title of Internship Position: Marketing and Social Media Intern

Duration: Ongoing

Length of Internship: Duration of both the Fall and Spring semesters

Job Description: The TMPA Internship program duties include but not limited to the following areas:
❖ Update the Org website with job postings and membership related documents.

❖ Pre-schedule regular social media posts to promote TMPA and provide support to members.

❖ Track activity on the various social media sites and report findings to the Communications manager.

❖ Design / Update print materials including flyers, articles, publications, and other promotional content as needed.

❖ Development of digital images, infographics, and material to be used for the website, videos.

❖ Support Legislative Affairs team with social media posts and research as TMPA moves into the 2021 State Legislative Session.

❖ Accompany Legislative Affairs team to the capital as needed.

❖ Support TMPA Conference with set-up, registration, and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

❖ Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.

❖ Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and work in a high-pressure environment.

❖ Ability to work productively and proactively, both independently and as part of a team.

❖ Strong working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

❖ Knowledge and/or experience developing marketing collateral and digital content.

❖ Knowledge of user experience with websites and interfaces

❖ Formal or informal marketing, consulting, project management, or strategy experience.

❖ Strong personal drive and demonstrated leadership.

❖ Demonstrated relationship building and strong collaboration and communications skills, both written and verbal.

❖ Shown flexibility, planning, and problem-solving skills.

❖ Project/product management skills.

Compensation: Travel and Per Diem as required
