As the principal Federal export promotion agency, the U.S. Commercial Service offers unique internship opportunities for those interested in pursuing careers in international business.

What Does the Commercial Service Do?

The mission of the Commercial Service is to facilitate and promote export efforts among small and medium-size firms.  We are in Austin and are afforded a unique opportunity to work with Austin companies in every aspect of their international business operation.  Through one-on-one business counseling sessions, we assess marketability, develop international business plans, conduct market research, facilitate contacts with overseas representatives, and offer promotional vehicles to introduce their products and services worldwide.

What Can You Expect to Learn?

  • Learn about international business and the market conditions and challenges facing Austin business executives as well as their strategies to sell overseas
  • Client development and maintenance
  • Trade show promotion, marketing and recruitment
  • Understand first-hand the role of government agencies in promoting international trade as well as entries into overseas careers in both the public and the private sector
  • Build both international and local contacts, and form important relationships for the future
