Waterloo Media Internship Program

Want to learn what it takes to produce a live radio broadcast? How about building client relationships, developing
event planning skills, or learning how to create cutting-edge online advertising campaigns?

Waterloo Media has earned a reputation as a fun, exciting, and innovative company, where every individual is partof the team. An internship with Waterloo Media offers a valuable learning experience as you explore and clarify
your career goals. Students will learn how to apply academic knowledge to a business environment with the goal of learning how all of our departments work together. An internship will also add work experience to your resume.

Waterloo Media offers spring, summer, and fall internships that run concurrent with school semesters. Internships last 12 weeks in duration with most students averaging 12-15 hours per week. Internships are unpaid positions; however, a lot of our employees started out as interns!

Requirements

  • School credit required.
  • Initiative, quick-learner, & dependable.
  • A strong desire to learn and a positive attitude.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator is a plus.
  • Spanish fluency is a big plus.

Internships offered:

  • Bilingual Production— learn how to create station imaging and produce commercials for our Spanish stations; fluency in Spanish & English required.
  • Digital Content — learn how to develop written and video content for our websites; strong writing skills required.
  • Digital Media Sales — learn how innovative digital advertising campaigns drive revenue.
  • Events Marketing Team— learn large scale event planning, brand marketing, and client relations for all of our stations.
  • Human Resources— learn staffing & recruiting, onboarding, and talent management.
  • Programming/On-Air— learn the intricacies of producing a live morning show.
  • Reporter— learn how to create engaging broadcast stories and develop the reporting skills required to deliver local, state, and national news.
  • Sports Mktg. & Advertising Sales — learn how to market local sporting  events & sell capital traffic/weather sponsorships.
